Whoa!

Long time no see blog-ians!

I’m sorry I have neglected you, but I promise I have a really, really good reason!

In fact my life is full of reasons at the moment.

I’m half way through week 6 at school. That’s right, I’m a teacher now remember?! It’s crazy, crazy, CRAZY and was initially terrifying to the max. Luckily, all the students are lovely (give or take a few ferals) and they all love music. I’m teaching from Prep (that’s kindergarten) to Grade 9. So, that’s something like 500 names I’ve had to learn. I’m also taking two choirs (yay!!!) and have three singing students.

I have never sung so much in my LIFE! But luckily music teaching is practically the funnest thing ever.

As well as not having time to update my blog, I haven’t had time to do anything even remotely arty, which is sad. I also have a casual job selling tickets to musicals, which is taking up a lot of time. But, somehow I feel like it will have to go pretty soon.

I have however, got some fun news about things I have been doing. I’ve just bought myself a darling Diana Mini.

Cute no? It’s just the tiniest little thing.

Here are some photos from my first roll. I was just experimenting, and I’m looking forward to playing with some of the rad lomography film I bought as well.

It takes 35mm film, which is much easier to have developed which is nice.

I also bought myself, these:

I know. I know. T’hey’re the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen. Mine actually have blue wheels. I went skating for the first time on Sunday, and spent a lot of the time on my butt. I also gave myself a heap of awesome skate-pad shaped sunburn. Hopefully, I’ll get better with practice. :)

I also bought myself this:

No it’s not a tiny guitar, it’s a ukelele. I’m in the process of teaching myself, and thankfully it’s much easier than guitar, and SUPER easy to pick up. I can already play “You make me feel like a natural woman”. I’m specifically picking songs that seem ridiculous with uke.

So with all these extra hobbies and pass times, it’s certainly hard to find time to make art. But I do have some arty news for you.

My prints “O”

and “The Moral Is”

are for sale on my etsy store! They’re only $25US for a limited time, so if you want a print. Now is the time to buy!

Hopefully next time we speak, I’ll be able to give you some more arty news, and less about my spending habits (as rad as they are).

We’ll talke again soon, I promise.

Tumblr

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Well, I asked a couple of my friend and I’ve listened to them, and created a Tumblr dedicated to my faux-tography! That’s my hipstamatic and instagram pics.

I’m posting automaticall from my iPhone, so you can keep up with me all the time.

I’ll make a post in the new year, I have lots of things to tell you, all about the fun things I got for Christmas and my NYE party plans, and ZINES!

I’m fully appreciating the holiday time at the moment with lots of sleepovers and fun dinners. Tonight, I’m making Epic Nachos (did you notice the capitals? Yeah that’s how epic it will be.) for my boy and two besties.

I hope you all had a delicious Christmas and will have a fab New Year.

I’m off to eat some Christmas tree shaped shortbread. Nom.

Warning: This post is IMAGE HEAVY!

I hope you enjoyed that as much as I did.

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Whoa. So I haven’t posted in what feels like a million years.

I’m on my university internship at the moment teaching music, which is terrifying, stressful and totally wonderful. I have got SO much stuff to post about but for the moment, let me share something fab with you.

This is an iphone app that I stumbled upon via twitter. And it is AWESOME. AWESOME.

Instagram

Instagram

This app is SO FUN. It’s very similar to other photos apps like Hipstamatic (though without quite as many options sadly). Unlike Hipstamatic where you use the app like an actual camera (eg you don’t know how the photo will turn out) you take the photos and then edit it with filters.  You can also edit old photos as well. BUT, that is not the best bit. You can post the photos straight into the system, which works very similarly to twitter. And you can post directly to your twitter, facebook or flickr.

You can check out a few of my creations at my flickr page.

:D I promise I’ll post real soon. Cross my heart.

Website!

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Yay! I’ve been working on it for a few weeks now, but my new portfolio website is finally up and running!

carlathursday.comPretty snazzy huh? I designed it in iWeb which is quite useful, and OH so easy.

www.carlathursday.comI’m quite happy with how it turned out, and luckily, one of the perks of having a lovely nerdy boyfriend, is that I had tonnes of help getting it all set up. So my boy is definitely in the good books at the moment (not that I suppose he’s ever been out of them!)

www.carlathursday.com

Go and check it out because I’d love to know what you think of it!

Tomorrow, there will be a big post with my newest painting! All finished!

xoxo Goodnight Starlight!

Timothy!

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Well I finally got back my roll of photos from my Holga Tim! It was certainly a learning experience. The Tim has got three appature settings, and it was hard getting use to them!

Here are the best of the lot. Shot on expired film (that’s why they’re so grainy!)

This one is my favourite. I think that tree is divine.

What do you think? :)

Otherwise pointless post

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Yes, as you read above this is an otherwise pointless post.

However, I just wanted to show you these:

Bahahahaahaha. This photos fill me with delight. This is my friend Ryan and I (who I seem to talk about a lot in this blog! But he’s my bloggin buddy!) in a japanese photo booth in my city.

The best thing about it, was that all the instructions were in Japanese!

So we pretty much had NO idea what we were doing.

But I think it worked out ok in the end. :P

Just ignore the crazy face I’m making in this one.

This one is my favorite.

MAN. How did we get so rad? What kind of stupid things do you do with your friends?

Holga Tim!

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

He’s finally arrived! My darling Holga 135Tim has come in the mail!

When I saw the box on my door step I literally squealed in delight!

Peak-a-boo! Hello Timothy Holga! He needs a middle name! Can you think of one?

Isn’t he just the sweetest?!

And he’s got heaps of personality!

Here he is with his big brother Morgan (that’s the name of my red Holga 120 GCFN)

I also got this little holga flash. It has four colours, and you can mix and match them and make colours like orange and purple!

It also has a hot shoe so it’ll fit on my canon as well! :D

The best thing about this camera is that it uses 35mm film! Which is cheap and easy to develop! So I bought some of that too.

I’m going to load him up now and go take some photos! I just dyed my hair “smoldering red” so they might even be of me! Sadly all the instructions are in Japanese, so my first few shots will be experiments!

SO EXCITED! This arrived at a really bad time… because I have a WHOLE HEAP of stuff I should be doing. :P

Oh well!

Photo dump!

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Well this is going to be one seriously huge photo dump! I’ve gotten four rolls of film developed this week, and have also taken lots of digital photos from my holiday and stuff.

SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. THIS POST WILL BE IMAGE HEAVY.

I’m going to buy my lovely Holga Tim tomorrow so then there will be lots more photos!!

Now. I’m going to be honest with you. My two rolls of holga were terrible. JUST HORRIFICALLY TERRIBLE. But there are some nice ones in there as well. :P

You’ve probably realised that these photos are from the Amococo I wrote about a few weeks back. This one is my friend Alex and her lovely sister Gabrielle. Below is Gabrielle on her own. I think the light in this place makes for truly magical photos. These are from my canon.

I love this photo of a running boy.

I like this photo of a dancing girl even more.

On the theme of the Amococo here are some of my holga snaps. KEEP IN MIND I SAID THEY WERE TERRIBLE OK!? :P

I think this one looks like the inside of someone.

This one is even crazier! These photos were cross processed, so they all look FREAKY.

Here are a couple of other holga snaps.

These are the lemons from our tree.

These are the trees across from my house. They look kind of how things look in my dreams.

Here are a few snaps from my holiday. Some are digital some are analogue.

And here are two necessary shots of me and my lovely boy.

You’ll have to forgive the holiday hair.

Well I was intending on posting other photos but I think that is QUITE enough. I have some totally fun photo booth photos and some hipstamatic shots for you!

Sooooooon! Soooooooooon! I promise!

Holga Tim!

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Well. It’s official, my holga obsession knows no bounds. I’ve already targeted my next buy! :D

The lovely Holga 135 Tim!

Aren’t they the cutest?

I’m going to get the yellow one. I thought the red one was lovely, but I already have one red camera!

I’m loving the cute smiley faces! But they aren’t just adorable, they have an AWESOME purpose as well!

The Holga Tim is a half frame camera. Which means it uses normal 35mm film (which is cheap and cheaper to develop that normal 120 Holga Film) AND it takes two frames per photo!

It has two little lenses inside those eyes, so you can open and shut them to take two different photos in one frame!

Photo c/o Superbuy

Photo c/o Cakeprees

Isn’t it just the loveliest?

the idea of this makes me SO HAPPY! I’m also going to get a Holga Flash. The Tims do have their own flash, but they have smiley faces too… which makes them look a bit creepy. :P

Which I can attach to any camera with a hotshoe eg; my canon AND my new holga (which is great because my canon flash is broken!)

I have lots of canon and hipstamatic photos to post, as well as two rolls of holga to pick up tomorrow! So more photos a-coming!!

Now I’m off for pancakes! (I know, I am THAT rad).

:D
